Do you have to have the latest and greatest tech gadget; cell phone, music player, game machine, computer, etc.? Once again, it may not be your fault. You may be a victim!. Read this to see if you may suffer from neophilia. Wikipedia gives an interesting definition for this disorder. Wikipedia defines groups that seem more predisposed, “…groups…seem to share characteristic hacker tropisms for science fiction, music, and oriental food.” I found this quite amusing. Back in the day, if you just had to have the latest and greatest it was referred to as spoiled or pampered. So I got all those thrashings for begging for “that new thing” and it wasn’t even my fault. I’m depressed now (which I know is not my fault) – excuse me as I withdraw into my secluded little world for a while.

Not only was I getting fat, but I was suffering from acid reflux and was taking medication for that and of course my cholesterol was bad and I was on medication for that. I told Dee I had been having an affair. I would have breakfast with Little Debbie and then I spent my lunch time with Wendy and came home in the afternoon to her fat and tired. I started trying to follow the South Beach diet a year and a half ago. I have never been a fan of diets. But this one appealed to me from the stand point it was more like sensible eating than a “Thou Shalt Not Eat” kind of thing. Yes there is a “foods to avoid” list, but I can live with that. Also, it is more of a life style change. I lost about 20 pounds in the first couple of months and I have pretty much stayed at that point. I now have a decent exercise routine. I feel much better. The acid reflux and even just heartburn is gone and the medication for high cholesterol has been modified to something with less risk in damaging the liver.

So my weight loss has now turned into “wait” loss. I keep waiting to loose more weight. I guess I could cut out a few more calories or walk farther but I think the key is sleep. I told Dee and Sherry about this a year ago and they didn’t believe me and even laughed. So here it is, a study from the medical community that says lack of sleep can cause you to gain weight or at the very least hinder any attempts at weight loss. I rest my case. Good night!
