Parents are the first line of defense in protecting their children from digital predators. But, parents must take an active role in keeping up with the capabilities of the technology that we expose our children. Slang has been around for as long as I can remember. Slang is not new, but the usage is new. Your teen may be all safe and warm in their bedroom or the family room just chatting with their friends online. What’s wrong with that? You can’t hear what they are saying so you cannot monitor the conversation and if you don’t understand all the abbreviated slang used online, then you still can’t monitor the conversation. Hopefully, you can find some useful resources in the article.

I’m not saying that all teens abuse this technology, but the possibilitly of abuse exist. Parents – don’t forget text messaging on the cell phones use this same type of slang.

I call that syrupy sweet, calorie laden, rot your teeth, make you belch beverage that I love so much, soda – when speaking in generic terms. However , I only drink Coke Classic. I hate it when I order Coke and they bring me something else, and I know it. Some establishments will say, “We have Pepsi. Is that ok?” And I reply, “No, it’s not ok. Once again, it may not be your fault. You may be a victim!. Read this to see if you may suffer from neophilia. Wikipedia gives an interesting definition for this disorder. Wikipedia defines groups that seem more predisposed, “…groups…seem to share characteristic hacker tropisms for science fiction, music, and oriental food.” I found this quite amusing. Back in the day, if you just had to have the latest and greatest it was referred to as spoiled or pampered. So I got all those thrashings for begging for “that new thing” and it wasn’t even my fault. I’m depressed now (which I know is not my fault) – excuse me as I withdraw into my secluded little world for a while.

Pianka the University of Texas evolutionary ecologist and lizard expert who the Academy named the 2006 Distinguished Texas Scientist, says that overpopulation is destroying the Earth and his solution is to release an airbone Ebola virus. “We’ve got airborne 90 percent mortality in humans. Killing humans. Think about that.” Read more about this disturbing concept and the even more disturbing ‘enthusiastic and prolonged standing ovation’.

Someone is always trying to figure out the “target audience”, so advertising dollars can produce the greatest return on investment. I have mentioned that we recently went on a TV diet – limiting ourselves to five hours per week. We record the shows we want to watch and then on Friday evenings we watch our shows. Please understand that the TV is on during severe weather, we just aren’t parked in front of it. TV can be a Time Villain if we allow it.
