Pastor and Staff Appreciation
The month of October is used to show our appreciation for all those who are dedicated and committed to the call of God on their lives and their selflessness in giving to the ministry of our churches. I pray that God will richly bless them and their families each and every day.
I am so very blessed by the pastors and staff at Eastdale Baptist Church. I want to thank the following them for all they do and I want them to know that I appreciate them all of the time – not just in October!
-
Bro. Andrew Smith –Interim Pastor
Bro. Bill Lee – Minister of Music/Youth
Bro. Don Horne – Takes care of God’s finances
Bro. John Poole – Chairman of Deacons
These two women are the ones that really run the place.
Sister Betty Snowden and Sister Evelyn Ledbetter
These three women help us worship by sharing their musical talents on the piano and organ and running the sound system.
Sister Linda Ryals and Sister Karon Lee and Sister Cami Lawson.
These men of God ‘stood in the gap’ filling the needs of the pulpit during the time we were without a pastor – and I thank them.

Every year during the month of October, God brings to mind an incident in my life. I was a new believer and I was sitting in the auditorium of our church. It was dark and I was the only one in there. I don’t remember the circumstances as to why I was the only one in there at that time, I just remember sitting in the first pew thinking about how great it would be to come to church every day. I thought about being able to come into the auditorium any time I wanted to sit, pray, and think. I guess that because I was a new Christian, this place was where my walk with God was taking place. This was the place that I had met God and this was the place that He spoke to me. I had no idea that He was going to call me into the ministry later in my life (it would have scared me to death at that time!). I think that God brings that memory to me every so often to remind me of how blessed I am to be doing what I am doing. I think that is is the ministers in the churches that need to have a “Member Appreciation Month” every year. Just think about it . . . I get paid to do what we are all called to do anyway (doesn’t seem fair, does it)!
If I may be so bold . . . On behalf of all ministers in all churches, thank you to all members of those churches. We are more blessed than we could ever be a blessing! I look forward to the time when we will all kneel around the throne of the One that has drawn us together!
